2007 Youth Events

The following details the events during the 2007 Wildlife Asia Festival. Information on the 2008 programe will be released closer to the festival.

Wildlife Asia presented a fantastic Youth Prgoramme of seminars, workshops and screenings that open up the world of wildlife filmmaking and conservation to our participants. A great opportunity to meet leading conservationists and filmmakers such as Valmik Thapar and Dr Brady Barr.


Introduction to The Media
Designed to give a greater understanding of the power of the media (TV, print, new media etc) and its ability to education and motivate.

Meet the Filmmakers
A great opportunity to meet National Geographic's Dr Brady Barr - TV presenter and Herpetologist. Learn at first-hand why he chose this career, and hear his remarkable stories of filming in the wild.

Me and the Environment
Discussions about our relationship with the natural world and the effect our actions have on the environment.

Filmmaking in the Field
A 1/2 day hands-on workshop at Jurong Birdpark for youths between the ages of 12-18. The session will be run by a professional wildlife cameraman. Ideally participants should bring their own video camera - but this is not mandatory.

Meet the Filmmakers
The second opportunity to meet one of the industry’s top names - this time it's 'India's Attenborough' Valmik Thapar. Learn at first-hand why he chose to dedicate his life to tiger conservation, and hear what you can do to help protect this fantastic big cat!

Talent of Tomorrow
Youths with outstanding achievements in conservation and wildlife and environmental media take to the stage, inspiring all to make a difference, regardless of age.
